Sculptor best known for his monumental work of statuary including the Minute Man, the seated Lincoln, and the Lincoln Memorial. ALS signed “Dan French,” one page both sides, 10 x 6, July 28, 1918. Letter to a friend mentioning his work on the Lincoln statue. In part, “About the Lincoln - it has been photographed, but until the statue is put in place - which won’t be for a year or more - I am not permitted to let them go out of my hands.
