Description

American writer (1903-1968) who is best known for his crime fiction; his story It Had to Be Murder served as the source for Alfred Hitchcock's 1954 classic Rear Window. TLS, one page, 6 x 9, Hotel Marseilles letterhead, February 26, 1942. Letter to literary agent H. N. Swanson, in full: "Have notified Simon and Schuster I have a contract with you for motion picture rights covering all my output. Will send you a copy of Black Alibi as soon as I get my own copies, which ought to be in April. I'm glad you seemed to like Phantom Lady." In fine condition, with staple holes to the upper left corner.
