While he painted a variety of subjects in various media, his fame rests primarily on his evocative, penetrating society portraits. Untranslated ALS in French, signed “John S. Sargent,” four pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.5 x 7, Morgan Hall, Fairford letterhead, February 20, no year. In fine condition, with a small mounting remnant to the lower left corner of the last page.
