Letter concerning the payment of fees for an auction at Drouot Hotel. In part (translated): "I have received your letter of July 25th containing a cheque of 140 Francs 10 (Centimes) from the Société Générale. But I have to let you know that a few days before the 'Depeaux auction' there had been one at the Hotel Drouot and that in this auction there was one of my paintings, which has been sold at 40 or 42000 Francs. It is true that this collection was that one coming from a sequestration and that perhaps the State does not respect the right of the artists. I would thus be very obliged to you, if you would inform me about this subject." In fine condition, with a rusty paperclip impression to the left edge. An interesting letter on the topic of artist's royalties due on the sales of existing works.
