Major General (1836-1905) in Cuba's Ten Years' War against Spain who was also Cuba's military commander during their War of Independence. Vintage matte-finish 4.75 x 6.25 photo of Maximo Gomez in a bust-length pose, signed in black ink, "General M. Gomez." Ink notation in another hand indicates that the photo was signed on April 15, 1905. Lower right corner bears an ownership label belonging to Gomez's son, Urbano Gomez Toro. In very good to fine condition, with trimmed edges, some creasing, and an area of surface loss to the lower left corner. Gomez passed away at the age of 68 just two months later. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
