Description

American naval officers who fought the Barbary pirates in the early 19th century. Interesting dual ALS signed “A. Murray" and "J. Biddle,” one page, 7.75 x 7.25, May 2, 1816. Murray writes, in full: "Captain Biddle wishes to know whether you have any patent lights belonging to the public, if you have any that can be loaned to him, you will do it & take his receipt for them." Below, Biddle writes, in part: "Borrowed & received two patent lights." In very good to fine condition, with some staining to the left side, and a short split to the end of a horizontal fold.
