"If someone does not carry the fight, our country might find itself withdrawing into isolation. That would surely mean the end of freedom in America"

American lawyer, prosecutor, and politician (1902-1971) who served as governor of New York from 1943 to 1954, and famously challenged FDR in the 1944 presidential election. TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.25, State of New York Executive Chamber letterhead, February 16, 1951. Letter to Oscar-winning film executive Darryl F. Zanuck, in part: "It is not easy to differ so sharply with others on the great issues involved in the international crisis. But if someone does not carry the fight, our country might find itself withdrawing into isolation. That would surely mean the end of freedom in America. I assure you I will keep on doing my best to see that we come out on the right side." In fine condition.
