Description

French conductor (1875-1964) who conducted the world premiere of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring in 1913 and went on to direct orchestras around the world. ALS, one page, 5.75 x 7.75, October 31, 1942. Written from Hancock, Maine, a letter to Mr. Mapleson, in full: "I am sending back to-day the scores of Mr. Fekete's arrangements of Handel's works. They are very beautiful and I will certainly play one of them this season. I will let you know on time so we can get the score and parts soon enough. Many thanks for sending those scores to me." Monteux adds a brief postscript: "I am leaving Maine for San Francisco November 4—." In fine condition.
