Russian author, economist, and political theoretician, (1789-1871) who is best known for his 'Essay on the Theory of Taxation' and 'Russia and the Russians.' Scarce ALS in French, signed “N. Turgenieff,” one page, 5.25 x 8, April 2, 1843. Letter concerns corrections to one of his works, in part (translated): "I hope that you have not waited for the return…and that you tell me the story of continuing the…work…Read the preface, introduction &…notes. There were three small corrections to make, and I marked them with the envelopes. If you prefer that I explain them to you in person…I am to subject to your order." In fine condition. Brother of Russian Statesman Alexander Turgenev and a relative of the novelist Ivan Turgenev, Nikolay co-founded several reformist societies.
