#6024 - Max Planck Autograph Letter Signed Estimate: $500+

Nobel Prize-winning German physicist (1858-1947) who pioneered the understanding of quantum theory; his Planck's constant is ubiquitous in the relationships of fundamental particles and calculations involving their interactions. ALS in German, signed “Planck,” penned on the reverse of a 5.5 x 3.5 postcard of Austria's Almer Horn, September 2, 1941. Letter to a "D. Neuberg" in Dresden-Buhlau, in full (translated): "Honored Senior Church Councilor, It was only today that I received your valuable note from the 27th of last month with the announcement of your friendly visit. What must you be thinking of me, that I’ve left you so long without an answer! Added to this is my sincere regret that I won’t have the pleasure of seeing you. But it’s quite a long way from Berlin to here. As things stand, I can thank you only from a distance for your kind intention. Here in this peaceful mountain town, life is good. I’ll be away from Berlin until the end of September." In fine condition, with a punch hole touching two words of text.
