Description

Original hand-painted 10.75 x 13.75 porcelain panel by Boehm, depicting the White House circa 1800, created as a special award presented by First Lady Nancy Reagan to honor a “Great American Family.” The ivory porcelain panel features a detailed architectural view captioned “The Original White House c. 1800,” with applied 24-karat gold decoration and an ornamental border. Beneath the image is a passage from John Adams’s November 1800 letter: “I Pray Heaven To Bestow the Best of Blessings on This House And All that shall hereafter Inhabit it May none but Honest and Wise Men ever rule under This Roof.” The award dedication recognizes the recipients’ “inner strength and civic leadership,” which “enhance the quality of daily life in your community and promote pride in our American Heritage.” The concluding line reads: “Presented to nine families on June 27, 1984.” The panel bears the Boehm script mark at the lower right, with the horse-head-and-feather hallmark and “Trenton, N.J., U.S.A.” visible through an opening in the backing. Framed to an overall size of 14.75 x 17.75. In fine condition. Created for a White House award presented to just nine families, this hand-painted panel has particular appeal to collectors of Boehm porcelain and presidential memorabilia, combining the studio’s detailed craftsmanship with its Nancy Reagan presentation history.
