Four original vintage press photos from the first of the twelve 'subsequent Nuremberg trials,' 8 x 10 and 10 x 8, all stamped on the reverse with US Army stamps: "From Public Relations Photo Section, Office Chief of Counsel for War Crimes, Nürnberg, Germany." Subjects include Nuremberg courtroom scenes, with defendant Karl Genzken taking the witness stand, Konrad Schaefer testifying in his own defense, and shots of the defendants' dock, with Karl Brandt, Siegfried Handloser, Karl Gebhardt, Viktor Brack, Kurt Blome, Paul Rostock, and others in view. In overall fine condition.
The Doctors’ Trial, formally United States of America v. Karl Brandt et al., opened in November 1946 as the first of the twelve subsequent Nuremberg proceedings conducted by American military tribunals after the International Military Tribunal concluded. Twenty-three physicians and administrators were prosecuted for war crimes and crimes against humanity arising from lethal medical experiments and the Nazi euthanasia program, making these photographs vivid contemporary records of the opening stage of one of the most consequential postwar prosecutions.
