Description

Original brad-bound script for Sex and the Single Girl, written by Joseph Heller, 8.5 x 11, 113 pages, October 28, 1963. A "Stenographic Dept." cover sheet is labeled, "Rev. Final, Part I." In very good condition, with the front cover missing.

From the collection of Gerda Robison, who worked as a story researcher and stenographer for Disney in the 1940s and 50s. She authored the book Dark Lady, and later served as Cecil Beaton's assistant on My Fair Lady.

Released in 1964, Sex and the Single Girl is a Technicolor romantic comedy starring Natalie Wood, Tony Curtis, Henry Fonda, and Lauren Bacall, loosely inspired by Helen Gurley Brown’s hugely influential 1962 bestseller of the same name. Directed by Richard Quine and co-written by Catch-22 author Joseph Heller, the film turned Brown’s provocative image into a battle-of-the-sexes comedy centered on a scandal-magazine reporter attempting to expose a young relationship expert.
