Original Apollo A7L pressure boot restraint assembly, with an ILC Industries tag sewn inside identifying it as Part No. A7L-106021-17, Serial No. 563, Size 105 C. The boot is constructed from blue nylon fabric designed to hold its form under pressure, with convolutes and ferrule-ended restraint cables forming the ankle mobility joint. It features a stiff toe cap and is sewn to a beige rubber sole with metal plates at the heel. At the top is a zipper for joining the boot to the restraint layer's trouser assembly. The sole is annotated as “S/N 021 0878,” and the plate is marked “8.” In fine condition, with scattered wear, including partial separation of fabric from sole. The Apollo A7L space suit was made of several layers: this boot is part of the blue restraint layer, or Torso Limb Suit Assembly (TLSA), which was sandwiched between the inflated pressure bladder and the familiar white Integrated Thermal Micrometeoroid Garment (ITMG) outer layer. The TLSA provided structural integrity by restraining the internal suit pressure while incorporating mobility elements that allowed the astronaut to move while pressurized. Apollo pressure boots were manufactured in various sizes and selected according to the individual astronaut's foot measurements; this example is identified by its ILC Industries label as size 105 C.
