Vintage circa 1940s "by Duesenberg" toy tether car, measuring approximately 21˝ x 7.5˝ x 8.5˝, featuring a steel chassis, suspension, "Gardner" rubber tires on wheels fitted with Oilite bearings, and internal front-wheel driveshaft; the upholstered seat is loose within the cockpit, and the .604 "by Duesenberg" two-cycle racing engine is missing from the model. In good to very good condition, with overall tarnishing, one missing hood screw, and losses to the seat's upholstery.
Accompanied by its original sales brochure, which outlines the "Victories 'by Duesenberg' from 1912 to 1940 and describes the specifications of the toy vehicle. The promotional text begins: "It is not surprising that this rakish, low-slung, perfectly streamlined, scale model miniature racing car 'by Duesenberg' should be a fitting echo to 30 years of leadership in building famous racing cars which have established speed records all over the world. Perfect harmony of design and speed is exemplified in every inch of this miniature track scorcher by the beautiful lines which flow smoothly back from the radiator. This beautiful scale model racing car is designed and manufactured to definite specifications and tolerances under the personal supervision of A. S. Duesenberg, who for 30 years has been designing world famous racing cars. Precise workmanship and 'know how' engineering is everywhere in evidence."
