The first edition has been professionally rebound, with the title page expertly conserved, including silking and restoration to the lower left corner where there had been paper loss. In fine condition, with overall toning to the restored title page, which also bears creases, a few small holes, and edgewear; the last page also features uniform toning, stains, and edgewear.
Accompanied by the 1968 University of Chicago Press reprint, featuring a new introduction by historian Mark H. Haller and the addition of an index omitted from the first edition, making it the preferred reference edition for researchers.
