Description

(Walt Disney Studios, 1953) Original production cel of Goofy from For Whom the Bulls Toil, which pictures the beloved character in a determined full-figure pose wearing his matador ‘suit of lights’ outfit and holding a large red cape. The cel is placed over an attractive hand-painted production background attributed to Eyvind Earle and his staff. Character image measures 5.75 x 5.75, with a mat opening of 10.5 x 8.5. Matted and framed to an overall size of 18 x 16. In fine condition, with some instances of paint lifting to the upper sleeve and lower hand.

Renowned artist Eyvind Earle contributed to this short as an animation and background painter. Hired by Walt Disney Studios in 1951, his work on For Whom the Bulls Toil and other experimental shorts, such as the Oscar-winning Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom, led directly to his legendary role as the production designer and color stylist for Disney's masterpiece, Sleeping Beauty.
