Description

Apple TechStep diagnostic computer, preserved in its original sealed Apple service replacement packaging bearing a “Genuine Service Part” label from Apple Computer Australia Pty Ltd. The handheld unit remains unopened in its pink anti-static bag, with its front keypad, LCD display, Apple TechStep branding, rear Apple Computer label, and 1991 copyright visible through the packaging. Also retains its orange “Static Sensitive Devices” warning label. In fine condition.

Introduced in 1991, the Apple TechStep was a dedicated handheld diagnostic computer developed exclusively for Apple-authorized service technicians. Sold to Apple service centers for approximately $1,000 rather than to the general public, the TechStep connected to supported 68K Macintosh computers and SCSI hard drives to diagnose faults in logic boards, memory, disk drives, power supplies, and other key components.
