Description

Apple Macintosh–branded red hard hat manufactured by Fibre-Metal, featuring the classic early Macintosh computer logo with mouse in white-and-yellow print, distributed to employees at a luncheon held to inaugurate the Macintosh manufacturing facility in Fremont, California. In fine condition.

From the personal collection of Apple employee P. A. Tavenier, and accompanied by one of his original Apple Computer business cards, listing his title as "Manager, Procurement Engineering, Macintosh Division." He recalls: "These were not available to anyone not present at the luncheon Steve held for us once he wrested the factory back from (planned) Dallas. We found a suitable building in Fremont, he bussed us over to show it off and there was a catered white tablecloth meal waiting. Each got one of these hardhats. Some folks brought skates as the building was new -120,000 sq. ft. of unblemished concrete. Fun afternoon."
