(Walt Disney Studios, 1939) Original storyboard drawing by David Hall from Alice in Wonderland, depicting Alice's enlarged hand reaching through the White Rabbit's house after she grows to an enormous size. Accomplished in ink and graphite on translucent animation tissue, with the image measuring 4 x 3.25 on an overall sheet measuring 6 x 5. In fine condition, with adhesive residue to the borders from prior mounting.
This image illustrates a scene from the famous “White Rabbit's House” chapter of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, showing Alice's oversized hand rummaging through the White Rabbit's cottage after she has grown beyond the size of the house itself. Particularly charming is the small framed portrait of two rabbits hanging on the wall above the furniture. The drawing was later reproduced on page 48 of Simon & Schuster's Giant Golden Book Surprise Package, one of a select group of illustrations preserved from Disney's abandoned 1939 adaptation of the Carroll classic.
