South African Olympic Team badge issued for the Berlin 1936 Summer Olympics, representing one of the key National Olympic Committee (NOC) delegation badges of the 1930s. Weighing 19 gm and measuring 38 mm x 46 mm, the badge is comprised of a bronze-tone shield with a green enamel front bearing a leaping springbok and colorful Olympic rings between upper and lower text: “South African Olympic Team” and “Berlin 1936.” The reverse bears the Berlin maker’s mark of “E. Gutenkunst.”
