Headed “Regretfully Announcing the Death of Jim Thorpe,” the card continues by soliciting memorial donations through the “Jim Thorpe Memorial Committee,” chaired by C. E. Harrison of San Pedro, California, noting that “An accounting of all contributions will be filed with the Thorpe family.” Signed at the bottom in fountain pen by an unidentified individual. In fine condition. Accompanied by a Jim Thorpe Memorial Committee envelope. Thorpe, widely regarded as one of the greatest all-around athletes in American history and a member of the Sac and Fox Nation, died on March 28, 1953, at age 65.
