Description

Three wooden relics from Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States were debated and adopted by the Founding Fathers of the United States:

- An "Official Souvenir" certificate of the 55th Annual Encampment of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, held August 1–6, 1954 in Philadelphia, 14˝ x 10˝, carrying an affixed 1.25˝ x 1˝ wooden chip cut from the original timbers of Independence Hall.

- Limited edition display housing a 1˝ x .5˝ wood chip cut from the original cedar beams of Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Housed in a collector's case with an identification plaque and gold facsimile signatures of some of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, prepared by Burnes of Boston, who released the edition during the bicentennial year of 1976.

- Limited edition 2.75˝ x 1.5˝ pewter plate housing a 1˝ x .75˝ wood chip cut from the original cedar timbers of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, prepared by Parker for distribution in their Parker 75 bicentennial pen desk set. The plate is engraved with an image of Independence Hall and the text: "Cedar wood in this pewter plate is a relic of Independence Hall, Philadelphia - 1776."

In overall very good to fine condition, with light surface creasing to the lower left corner of the certificate. Accompanied by the certificate's original mailing envelope.
