Description

Collection of 20 vintage Grateful Dead and related concert t-shirts from the late 1970s through the early 1990s, highlighted by a visually striking group of original tour and commemorative shirts featuring iconic psychedelic artwork by some of the most celebrated artists associated with the Grateful Dead aesthetic, including Stanley Mouse, Alton Kelley, Rick Griffin, Jerry Jaspar, David Forslund, Dennis Larkin, Tom Glenn, and others. Predominantly size large, with several mediums, the collection includes examples tied to notable tours and events such as the Grateful Dead’s 1985 ‘Twenty Years So Far’ anniversary merchandise, the 1986 ‘True Confessions’ tour with Bob Dylan and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the 1987 Mountain Aire Festival, the 1988 Summer-Fall tour, the 1986–87 New Year’s run, and the 1990 ‘25 Years Dead’ anniversary celebration. Also included are related shirts for Wavy Gravy and U2’s 1987 Joshua Tree Tour.

Among the standout pieces are a rare 1977 Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley “California” Monster Studios shirt, signed by Stanley Mouse; a Grateful Dead lightning-and-roses shirt signed by Mouse; multiple Rick Griffin-designed “Twenty Years So Far” shirts in both blue and white variants; an embroidered 1983 Santa Fe Grateful Dead design by Dennis Larkin; a striking 1984 Fall Tour “Hawk” shirt by David Lundquist for Eagle Eye Studios; and a dramatic prism-and-skeleton design by Jerry Jaspar. In overall fine condition, with scattered wear, including small holes and scattered toning and stains; the collection contains several unworn examples. A colorful and highly displayable archive of vintage counterculture and rock memorabilia spanning the Grateful Dead’s most enduring touring era.
