The collection comprises official Olympic rowing entry forms, final nominations, athlete lists, committee minutes, typed translations, administrative correspondence, reports, account records, telegrams, and regatta documents assembled during the organization and administration of the Olympic regatta. Represented nations and rowing organizations include Italy, Hungary, Holland, Norway, Belgium, Canada, and France, with material tied to the British Olympic Association, the Amateur Rowing Association, and the Fédération Française des Sociétés d’Aviron.

Included are Olympic Games, 1908 “International Regatta” entry forms and “Rowing Final Nominations” documents for multiple nations; entries and nomination forms from Tevere Rowing Club, Arno Rowing Club, and Lario Rowing Club of Italy; typed Norwegian competitor rosters listing athletes’ names, addresses, birthplaces, and nationality qualifications; official British Olympic Association letters dated July 1908; translations of diplomatic correspondence between British and French rowing authorities concerning Olympic eligibility rules and international competition regulations; Amateur Rowing Association committee meeting minutes dated March and April 1908; “Report of the Committee of the Amateur Rowing Association to the British Olympic Council”; “Olympic Regatta Book ‘Weights Register’” bound volume; and a manuscript “Minutes of the Committee of Selection and Control of the Olympic Regatta 1908” ledger. Also included is an original postcard photograph of the Belgian rowing team.

Particularly notable is the extensive administrative correspondence documenting disputes surrounding Olympic rowing eligibility requirements and nationality regulations, offering insight into the governance and international politics of amateur sport in the years preceding World War I. The archive additionally preserves working Olympic paperwork bearing manuscript annotations, official receipt stamps, handwritten notes, and typed translations prepared for Olympic and rowing officials during the preparation and conduct of the 1908 regatta events.

In overall very good to fine condition. A substantial archival grouping from one of the earliest modern Olympic Games, documenting the organization, athlete qualification process, and international administration of Olympic rowing at the 1908 London Games.
