Description

Two Apple Corps Ltd. 12-inch one-sided test pressings for George Harrison's 1969 two-track album, Electronic Sound, containing the songs ‘Under the Mersey Wall’ and ‘No Time or Space.’ Both records feature the white-and-green “Custom Recording” label with typed captions: “Zapple 02, Electronic Sound, Side 1, Under the Mersey Wall, George Harrison” and “Zapple 02, Electronic Sound, Side 2, No Time or Space, George Harrison.” Includes an original white paper sleeve dated April 3, 1969. In fine condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks.

Electronic Sound, George Harrison’s second solo album, was released in May 1969 as one of two LPs on the Beatles’ short-lived avant-garde Zapple label, a subsidiary of Apple Records. Comprised of two extended Moog synthesizer pieces, it stands among the earliest electronic works by a rock musician, preceding Harrison’s introduction of the instrument into the Beatles’ sound on Abbey Road later that year.

From the collection of former EMI Studios and Apple Studios engineer Claude Harper.
