Description

Glossy 14.75 x 12.75 silver gelatin photograph of the Beatles by Harry Benson, which pictures the band at the George V Hotel in Paris on January 18, 1964, with John Lennon and Paul McCartney seated at a piano, George Harrison on the floor with his guitar, and Ringo Starr seated on a table. The reverse bears a Harry Benson address stamp, an ‘All Rights Reserved’ stamp, and pencil notations, one of which dates the print to May 1978. In fine condition.

The Beatles stayed at the George V Hotel during an 18-day residency at the Paris Olympia, a prolonged visit that became a creative retreat where they wrote several hits for the A Hard Day’s Night film and album. While this specific image is often titled or captioned as the group composing 'I Feel Fine,’ this is a common misconception; although the band was actively songwriting in this suite, ‘I Feel Fine’ was not actually written and recorded until October 1964 in London.
