Two items: a TLS as president, one page, 6.5 x 8.5, White House letterhead, January 16, 1953, to Lawrence E. Hartwig of the Renegotiation Board, in part: "As I leave the White House I want to thank you for your service to the government as a member of the Renegotiation Board. You and your fellow members of the Board have served the public interest, and the organization you have built is an important link in the Nation's defense establishment"; and a matte-finish 7.25 x 9.25 photo of Truman, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Hon. Lawrence E. Hartwig, kindest regards from Harry S. Truman, 5-23-62." The letter is framed to an overall size of 9 x 10.75; the photo is matted and framed to an overall size of 11.5 x 14.5. In very good to fine condition, with a light horizontal crease passing across Truman's face, visible at an angle.
