King of Sweden from 1697 to 1718, remembered as a warrior who defeated the Russians at Narva, later defeating Peter the Great and nearly taking Moscow. He was eventually forced to retreat and go into exile, where he was killed during the Siege of Fredriksten. Two LSs in Swedish, signed "Carolus," totaling four pages on two sheets, 8 x 12, dated November–December, 1699. In the first, King Charles XII consents to the request of the Governor-General that the widow of Mayor Joh. Christoph Schwartz be granted his lifetime right to the estate of Poderbia in Jama-Lehn. The second is a royal resolution on the petition for the granting of customary benefits to the same woman. Bound together in a folder with a German-language caption on the front and in overall very good condition, with light soiling and staining, and some restored paper loss to the second document, not affecting the signature.
