Double-sided 12˝ UK Apple Records vinyl test pressing for American soul singer Doris Troy's 1970 studio album Doris Troy (SAPCOR 13, 1970), with green-and-white Apple Corps Ltd. labels filled out in type. The record was pressed very early in the album's production and bears very early matrix numbers of "SAPCOR 13-A-2U" (Side 1) and "SAPCOR 9-B-1U" (Side 2). It features songs written by Troy and a number of the participants on the sessions, including George Harrison, Stephen Stills, Klaus Voormann, Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, Peter Frampton, Leon Russell, Eric Clapton and members of the Delaney & Bonnie Friends band.
Even though the album was well received ('critically acclaimed album on Apple,' 'first rate,' 'a great gospel-style R&B rocker') it suffered from a lack of promotion under Allen Klein's control of Apple Records and failed to make any commercial impact. Hence, it is very hard to find with this being the only known UK Apple test pressing in existence.
Condition: VG+ with great sound quality overall.
From the Mark Erbach Collection.
