Description

British caricaturist and illustrator (1792–1878), best known for his works satirizing contemporary politics and his illustrations for the works of Charles Dickens. Original sketch by George Cruikshank of a horse rider, accomplished in mixed media on an off-white 5 x 3.25 sheet, which depicts a galloping horse and its shirtless rider, a bald man who appears to be casting off his clothes, signed below in ink, “Geo. Cruikshank.” Matted to an overall size of 10.5 x 9.5. In fine condition.

From the personal collection of a lifelong collector, teacher, and traveler with a passion for world history. His collecting years ranged from the 1970s to the present day, meaning that several of the premier pieces have not been on the market in decades.
