Description

Collection of 14 original editorial cartoons by Jeff Koterba for the Omaha World-Herald, accomplished in mixed media (primarily ink and graphite) on individual illustration sheets ranging in size from 11.75 x 9 to 15 x 11, which are accompanied by eight 11 x 8.5 color proof prints embellished with white paint and watercolor. The 14 original pieces of daily strip art are each signed by Koterba with his artist signature. The group captures a range of space-race and astronaut-era humor, blending Koterba’s characteristic expressive linework with satirical commentary on exploration, technology, and human ambition. Highlights include a dynamic scene of a suited astronaut tangled in umbilical lines beside a drifting spacecraft, and a humorous lunar rover labeled “No cash for this clunker,” stranded on a barren moonscape. A more poignant, non-space comic strip shows a mushroom cloud from a detonated bomb, with lower caption: “The global warming threat from Iran and North Korea…” In overall fine condition.
