Description

Two original 7 x 3.5 stereoview photographs of Omaha Indians in social settings, sitting outside their tipis and smoking pipes. The scenes are filled with fascinating details—ornate garments, jewelry, buffalo skin rugs, and pipes are seen, and a mother carries a child on her back in one of the photos. Both are annotated on the reverse in ink by the original collector, "Omaha Indians, P. T. Buckley," and one carries an affixed label: "Social Smoke. Omaha Indians with Tent. Published by Hamilton & Hoyt, Sioux City, Iowa." In overall fine condition.

The Western Americana auction of Jochen Zeitz.
