Description

Original 'Type 1' vintage color glossy 10 x 8 red-numbered NASA photo (S-65-30428) showing Edward H. White II over El Paso, Texas, while making his historic spacewalk during the Gemini 4 mission. White is shown connected to the spacecraft only by his 25-foot umbilical line and tether. Reverse bears "A Kodak Paper" watermarks. In fine condition, with some light surface scuffing.

The Gemini 4 mission, launched on June 3, 1965, was a pivotal moment in space exploration as it marked the first American spacewalk performed by astronaut Ed White. This mission demonstrated the feasibility of extravehicular activity (EVA) and tested the endurance of humans in space during its four-day flight. Its success paved the way for future spacewalks and contributed to the advancements necessary for the Apollo missions to the moon.
