(Walt Disney Studios, 1937) Scarce original panoramic concept painting by Frank Follmer for The Rite of Spring segment in Fantasia, which features Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck as cavemen, and a host of dinosaurs. The detailed prehistoric scene shows Mickey being followed by two young triceratops, a dazed Daisy being carried by a club-wielding Donald, a swooping pterodactyl, a giant brontosaurus, a mother dinosaur with her newly hatched babies, and a volcano erupting in the distance. Accomplished in graphite and watercolor on 18 x 11.75 artist's paper, signed in the lower right in pencil, "F. Follmer." In fine condition. Follmer worked at Walt Disney Studios from the late 1930s through the early 1940s, assisting on projects like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, and Fantasia.
