Description

Pulitzer Prize-winning American journalist (1900–1945) who was best known for his wartime columns about ordinary GIs; he was killed during the Okinawa Campaign. Three items signed by Ernie Pyle: two Union Trust Company checks, 7.75 x 3, both filled out and signed by Pyle, "Ernest T. Pyle," both payable to “Cash” for $40, October 18, 1930, and February 28, 1931; and a World War II-dated ANS, one page, 4 x 2, December 11, 1944, which reads: “Dear Sergeant, I haven't started yet, but am about ready to go. Good luck to you.” In overall fine condition, with small tape stains to the edges of the note.

From the personal collection of a lifelong collector, teacher, and traveler with a passion for world history. His collecting years ranged from the 1970s to the present day, meaning that several of the premier pieces have not been on the market in decades.
