Nobel Prize-winning physicist (1868-1953) who was the first to isolate the electron and measure its charge. Two TLSs: one signed "Robert A. Millikan," one page, California Institute of Technology letterhead, May 14, 1934, in part: "I regret to say that I am under so heavy a schedule of commitments that I cannot do anything of any sort before next fall"; and a TLS signed "R. A. Millikan," one page, California Institute of Technology letterhead, May 14, 1948, in part: "I appreciate your request for a copy of the paper I read before the Physical Society in Washington a couple of weeks ago, April 29th…This will be included in a book of my memoirs soon to be issued by the Prentice Hall people, probably under the title 'Three Score Years and Twenty.' I am enclosing the last two pages, which consist of a sort of summary of the paper." In very good to fine condition. Accompanied by the enclosure referenced, plus a press release of another address by Millikan.
