Three TLSs from Hollywood legend Cary Grant, each one page, dated to 1955, 1958, and 1981, each addressed to admirer Wanda Mosbacker, an educator from Cincinnati, Ohio. The earliest letter, May 5, 1955, personal letterhead, in part: “Yesterday, looking through a pile of letters that my secretary and I had, at last, decided to tackle, I came across a charming letter that you were kind enough to write me so many months ago. It was thoughtful of you to send the colored snapshot and I am appreciative, though most apologetic for not acknowledging its receipt at the time. A year of much traveling, and the added complexity of changing residences, has permitted me little opportunity to attend to correspondence.”
The second, March 18, 1958, personal letterhead, in part: “Alas, it is not probable that I shall be in the vicinity of Cincinnati at any time in the future but, if you expect to be in California again, do write me at the above address. Too, I am often in New York, so if you ever intend being there, please let me know in case the dates of our visits coincide.”
The last, January 6, 1981, Faberge letterhead, in full: “Your Christmas card has just come to my attention. Thank you. It pleased me greatly to hear from a friend of so many years, and this brings a warm wish that you are enjoying life and happily looking forward to a prosperous New Year.” In overall fine condition.
Accompanied by two original mailing envelopes, two letters from Grant’s personal secretary, a carbon copy letter from Granox Productions, a dual-sided Universal City Studios ‘shooting call’ sheet for Father Goose dated May 6, 1964, a Revue Studios ‘Operations Desk’ sheet listing Father Goose among the productions, and a vintage Universal City Studios ‘Limited Studios Pass’ authorizing the bearer “To See M. Cary Grant, Bldg. Stg. 14.”
