Richard Nixon's brass bust statue of Abraham Lincoln, measuring 3.75˝ x 4.25˝ x 2˝, with the front of the plinth featuring Lincoln’s name and the reverse marked, “Illinois, Land of Lincoln, Charles F. Carpentier, Secretary of State.” In fine condition.
Charles F. Carpentier (1896–1964), who served as Secretary of State of Illinois from 1953 to 1964, was viewed by party insiders as Richard Nixon’s principal political ally in Illinois during a brief period in early 1964 when Nixon remained an undeclared but plausible alternative to Barry Goldwater for the Republican presidential nomination.
From the estate of Edward C. Nixon, the youngest brother of Richard Nixon.
