(Walt Disney Studios, 1936) Original production drawing featuring Mickey Mouse from the classic short film Alpine Climbers, which shows Mickey seated in a quizzical full-length pose as he holds up an eagle egg, a moment that leads to nonstop high jinks for Mickey, Pluto, and Donald Duck as they venture in the Swiss Alps. Accomplished in graphite and colored pencil on untrimmed 12 x 10 animation paper marked "72, BDT" in the lower right corner. Character image measures 3.75 x 4. In fine condition, with slight edgewear. A decidedly uncommon drawing from a beloved early Disney short—Alpine Climbers is the only known Disney cartoon to feature animation by Carl Barks, an American cartoonist later known for his popular Donald Duck comics.
