Description

White House renovation stones removed during the reconstruction undertaken under President Harry S. Truman, 1950–1952. Pair of original masonry blocks, measuring approximately 4.75˝ x 4.5˝ x 3˝ and 4.5˝ x 4.5˝ x 3˝. The lighter, finely grained block is consistent with Aquia Creek sandstone, the historic material used for the White House exterior, while the second shows a darker, denser face typical of interior or backing masonry. Includes their original cardboard shipping box with label from the “Commission on Renovation of the Executive Mansion, Fort Myer, VA,” and the original authentication plate featuring a raised presidential seal in the center, reading: "Original White House Material Removed in 1950.” In fine condition.

This fragment derives from the collection of Kevin Buckley, a meteorologist for the New York Yankees. A deeply passionate collector, Buckley founded Time Passages LLC with the intention of sharing and selling items from his collection; however, according to his sister, health challenges prevented him from fully realizing the venture before his passing.
