Original Apple Macintosh 128K computer, upgraded with the Macintosh Plus 1MB kit (which included a new motherboard, floppy disk drive, and rear case), with label beneath the bezel reading: "Model No. M0001, F4284B7M0001." The FCC identification plate on the rear identifies the unit as "Macintosh Plus 1MB."
This Macintosh bundle includes the original Macintosh 128K 'Picasso' box, with boxed Macintosh Keyboard (M0110) with curly cord, and Apple mouse (M0100). At the top of the box is the original plastic box with spiral-bound introduction manual, two floppy disks ("System Tools" and "Guided Tour"), cassette tape, A/C power cord, plus the MacWrite/MacPaint software bundle.
Additionally includes the original box for the upgrade kit, containing original Macintosh 128K logic board, original Macintosh 400K disk drive, and original Macintosh 128K rear caseback, which famously has the facsimile signatures of the Macintosh development team molded into the inner housing. Also includes the packing list and associated paperwork, including blank product return forms, plus an original Macintosh carrying bag.
In very good to fine condition, with moderate-to-heavy wear to the 'Picasso' box; the Macintosh successfully boots into Mac System 6.
The consignor notes that the original owner was an Apple dealer. The items in this lot are the complete set that Apple offered to dealer employees when the Mac was introduced in January 1984. The computer was upgraded by an authorized Apple technician from the 128k system to be a Macintosh Plus (which included a new motherboard with 1MB RAM, replacement floppy disk drive, and new rear caseback). As part of the upgrade, the 1MB of RAM on the new motherboard was replaced by the technician with 4MB of RAM.
