Limited edition 24 x 21 photographic print of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones by music photographer Richard E. Aaron, picturing the band playing a benefit concert at the Oshawa Civic Auditorium in Ontario, Canada, on April 22, 1979, numbered 7/30, signed in the lower border in pencil by Aaron. In fine condition, with a light bend to the lower left corner.
The Rolling Stones performed two shows—an afternoon and an evening concert—on April 22, 1979, at the Oshawa Civic Auditorium for a very unusual reason. Guitarist Keith Richards had been convicted of heroin possession in Toronto the previous year. Instead of receiving jail time, Richards was sentenced to probation on the condition that the band play two benefit concerts for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. Since the CNIB’s own venue was too small and Toronto’s major arena was unavailable due to the hockey playoffs, Oshawa’s 5,000-seat Civic Auditorium was selected. As a result, the Stones’ appearance in Oshawa wasn’t part of any tour but a fulfillment of Richards’ court-mandated charity obligation.
