English politician (1618–1706) who served as the last governor of the Plymouth Colony, overseeing its joining to Massachusetts when a new charter for the Province of Massachusetts Bay was issued in 1692. Manuscript DS, signed “Thos. Hinckley, Gov'r,” one page, 7.5 x 6, April 26, 1690. An election order issued at "New Plimouth," in part: "Give publique notice…of the Generall Court of Election to be holden at Plimouth the first Teusday of June next that all persons who shall have business thereof may then and there attend…name all the freemen…that they Either personally appear at sd. Court or send in their votes by Proxy for the Choice of Govern'r Deputy Governr Assistants Commissioners and Treasurer for this following year…fail not in any of the particulars abovesaid as you will answer the Contrary at your perill." Below is a brief statement signed by the constable, Joseph Taylor, ordering a meeting "to perform what the above warrant requires." In very good to fine condition, with archival reinforcements to the edges and fold intersections.
