Description

Official British printing of the "Convention Between His Britannic Majesty and the United States of America, Signed at London, October 20, 1818, Presented to both Houses of Parliament, by Command of the Prince Regent," printed in London by R. G. Clarke at the London Gazette Office, Cannon-Row, Westminster. Handsomely custom-bound in quarter-leather with marbled boards, 8.25 x 12.5, three pages. By this convention, the northern boundary between the United States and Canada was settled at 49° north latitude from the Lake of the Wood west to the summit of the Rocky Mountains. The question of the Oregon Country was placed on hold for a period of ten years, delayed through a joint occupation agreement. In fine condition.
