Original vintage glossy 7.5 x 10 news service photograph of Al Capone staring at the camera and standing outside a Chicago courthouse after he was convicted on five counts of income tax evasion on October 17, 1931. The reverse bears editorial notations and three affixed wire and newspaper captions, one of which reads: “Al Capone is shown leaving Federal court in Chicago late Saturday night after hearing the verdict of a jury that found him guilty on five counts of the indictments charging him with violating the income tax laws. The maximum sentence under the verdict is 17 years in prison and a fine of 350,000, and the judge has deferred sentencing him until after a hearing on Oct. 20 when defense motions will be considered.” In very good condition, with creasing, trimmed edges, and loss to the lower left corner. Encapsulated by PSA as an authentic 'Type I' photograph from 1931.
