Group of five National Sports Festival winners’ and commemorative medals from the personal collection of Diane Moyer, a goalkeeper for the Team USA women’s field hockey team that won a bronze medal at the Los Angeles 1984 Summer Olympics. The medals originate from early editions of the National Sports Festival, the original name for the U.S. Olympic Festival, a multi-sport event held in the United States by the United States Olympic Committee in the years between the Olympic Games. These include:
- Silver-tone winner’s medal from the 1978 National Sports Festival (Colorado Springs, Colorado), with the reverse marked “Field Hockey / Pueblo,” with original patriotic ribbon. Includes original case with label marked “Field Hockey, Gold.”
- Gold-tone winner’s medal from the 1979 National Sports Festival (Colorado Springs), with the reverse engraved, “Field Hockey,” with original patriotic ribbon.
- Silver-tone commemorative medal from the 1979 National Sports Festival, with original Tiffany & Co. presentation pouch and box.
- Gold-tone winner’s medal from the 1983 National Sports Festival (Colorado Springs), with the reverse engraved, “Field Hockey - W,” with original patriotic ribbon. Includes its original plastic presentation case.
- Bronze-tone commemorative uniface medallion from the 1983 National Sports Festival.
Includes a medal-shaped commemorative paperweight from the debut of the National Sports Festival in 1978, with its original box. In overall fine condition.
