Group lot of scarce Prince items from the Purple Rain Tour, including: a VHS cassette tape containing a copy of a rare Christmas video made for Prince by Sheila E. during the Purple Rain Tour, which co-starred Jerome Benton and bodyguard Chick Huntsberry (aka Big Chick), with label marked “Big Chick & the Bounceroonies / Sheila E. in Amsterdam, Top Pop Formula 1"; and a group of five color glossy candid photos of Sheila E. and her bandmates in drag backstage, ranging in size from 4.5 x 3 to 5 x 7, which includes two images of the band playing with a Prince mannequin. Includes a copy of a Sheila E. diary page that mentions how the ‘drag’ situation and Prince’s on-stage reaction: “Tonight we did something really crazy. Stef, Benny and Juan all dressed up in dresses with makeup and fake boobs and the works and I went out there in one of Jerome’s suits…When Prince saw all of us dancing he fell on the piano laughing like crazy. The boys were classic.” In overall fine condition.
Accompanied by additional Prince-related ephemera, including: an unused ‘All Access’ backstage pass for Prince’s Nude Tour, dated June 27, 1990; a paperback First Critic’s Choice Edition of the book Prince: His Story in Words and Pictures; a cassette tape of Prince’s Sign o' the Times album; and various publications and clippings, including an issue of Rolling Stone from September 12, 1985, and an issue of Spin from July 1986.
From the collection of Susie Davis, former keyboard player for Sheila E., who toured with legendary artists such as Prince, Mick Jagger, Billy Idol, Van Morrison, Sinead O'Connor, and many others. Davis performed with Prince and the Revolution during the Purple Rain Tour.
