Description

"As long as the present condition of international anarchy prevails we all live under the constant threat of sudden annihilation"

ABC News press release, 11 pages, 8.5 x 11, July 17, 1947, beginning: "Following is the prepared text of a special ABC broadcast in which Professor Albert Einstein will discuss 'The Immediate Need For World Law' with ABC commentator Raymond Gram Swing and Cord Meyer, Jr., president of United World Federalists, on Thursday, July 17, from 10:15 to 10:30 p.m., EDT." Einstein's address, in part: "The resolutions submitted to Congress by a bi-partisan group may, if they find the vigorous support of large sections of the American people, mark a turning point in international politics...There is no effective defense against our modern methods of mass destruction. Therefore the nation-state is not capable any longer of adequately protecting its citizens merely through an increase in its military strength. As long as the present condition of international anarchy prevails we all live under the constant threat of sudden annihilation. This is a state of affairs that cannot last; before long, it will come to an end, either by way of brute force or by peaceful agreement, which inevitably implies a world government.". In very good to fine condition, with light handling wear, and thin areas of paper loss to the last two pages.
