Original color 22.5 x 15.5 jugate campaign poster for incumbent President William McKinley and his choice for second-term Vice President, Theodore Roosevelt, the Republican candidate for the 1900 United States presidential election. This vibrant political poster portrays the two men in jugate fashion below two American national flags, crowned by a sun-backed liberty cap, and above a quote attributed to McKinley on July 12, 1900: “The American flag has not been planted in foreign soil to acquire more territory but for humanity's sake.”
The poster’s heading reads, “The Administration's Promises Have Been Kept,” the sides of the poster showing scenes that juxtapose with the current state of America with how the country would have fared if William Jennings Bryan had won the White House. Scenes are entitled: “Gone Democratic” and “Gone Republican,” “A run on the Bank” and “A run to the Bank,” and “Spanish Rule in Cuba” and “American Rule in Cuba.” The bottom bears a “LIP & BA, American Manufacture” seal. Tastefully matted and framed to an overall size of 29.5 x 22. In fine condition.
